Maisie and David Thursday 17 November 2022
Maisie and David tied the knot on Thursday 17 November 2022 with a ceremony in the chapel and the most beautiful reception in the Radcliffe Room.
Their wedding was a delight for all the senses. The wonderful team at Ambience North Yorkshire transformed the Radcliffe Room into Maisie's vision, giving a nod to the Scottish Highlands. With thistles, foliage, rusty orange, red, white and gold hues, it was a beautiful Autumnal day. No detail went unnoticed, Maisie even curated her own wedding scent that filled every corner of Rudding House!
Read on to find out how they fell in love, chose their suppliers and how a Covid restricted game of 'Mr & Mrs' led to a future Mr & Mrs Allan
We hope you feel inspired...
So, how did you two meet?
We met at the Cheltenham Festival.
When did you know they were 'the one'/how did they pop the question?
I think we knew straight away we got on so well!! He popped the question Boxing Day 2020, when we were allowed 6 people within the Covid regulations so we were at my brother and sister in laws with my other brother and sister in law. A day and night of drinking and in the middle of a game of Mr and Mrs and he just asked me. None of us new if he was serious until the next day!
What was the biggest MUST HAVE for your wedding?
Wedding scent - so worth it!
Other than saying 'I do', what is the most unforgettable moment from the day?
Our first dance - have the whole wedding party come round in a circle and sing along with the band. The band went straight into a proper party song and everyone was already on the dance floor and no one left! Absolutely made the evening
Which supplier was a real stand out for you? The unsung star who deserves a special mention.
Both Colette for the flowers and Ambience. They literally managed to jump in my head and create exactly what I wanted. I sent mood boards and couldn’t believe how they perfectly merged all I wanted.
What was it in your eyes that gives Rudding Park the WOW factor?
The staff. The staff made the day run so smoothly, somehow they got to me to the chapel bone dry despite it raining so heavily and nothing was too much of an ask from the guests.
Also the chapel - WOW! As soon as we walked in we new it was our venue. The whole venue was just perfect, plenty of space, could be laid out however we wanted.
How did you style your space? Did your wedding day have a theme?
We were very much a winter wedding so lots of rusty oranges, reds, white and golds. We wanted classic elegance with a hint of the wild Scottish highlands with lots of thistles and foliage. We had lots and lots of candles and I created a wedding scent which made the whole house smell amazing. We wanted the whole day and night to flow so we didn’t want to have to turn the room around and lose our guests to their rooms. Our day flowed perfectly and the drink didn’t stop!
What is your funniest memory from the day?
Tbh the day was just so perfect and ran so smoothly everyone was happy and laughing ALL day!! There’s wasn’t a stand out funny moment!
What's the best advice you could give to couples who are about to tie the knot at Rudding Park?
Use Colette for your flowers!! The discount is so worth it and she does an amazing job!!
And finally, we'd love to hear about your experience with Rudding Park....
It was perfect. From the day we came to look around as a potential venue to the day after and leaving. I didn’t need to worry about a single thing at any point. They went above and beyond in every way and made all our wedding dreams come true. The venue is beautiful, the food amazing and the atmosphere perfect.
